March for Our Lives

Funny thing….when I typed in the heading for this post I made a typo and put: March for Our Loves!!

I am going to March with the young people on Saturday March 24. I am going to march for what I love, my children…all children. We cannot call any child my child, unless we call all children my child. So I stand with them.

Perhaps thinking of this as marching for our loves is a correct way to think of it. Therapists called the error I made a Freudian slip…I prefer to call it a “Quinnian slip…” more about that in my next blog. In any case the typo says the reality. We all take stands for things we care about and love. Our young people are reminding us what we marched for, stood for, when we were younger. I remember as a young person standing for anti-war, civil rights, equal rights for women…and I spent my entire life working for these positions and values. I think it has been a long time coming for another generation to take up the effort and help move this nation to another place. We are faced with such turmoil and suffering in our country, it is good for the idealism of the young to sing to us of what we can be, what we can become…if we are here we are still becoming, growing!

I hope you will join with me in supporting our young adults in their efforts to change the world. You can sign up for the march at this address: https://marchforourlives.com/
In major cities LYFT is providing free rides to the march locations…you need a code…there is a link to that from the march for our lives website. So let’s march for our lives and our loves!
